MGMT: ''Time To Pretend' is about a praying mantis'
Band give bizarre interview at Shockwaves NME Awards

MGMT have bizarrely claimed that their hit 'Time To Pretend' was inspired by a praying mantis in an exclusive video taken at the Shockwaves NME Awards, which you can watch by clicking below.The pair bagged the Best Track award for the song.When asked what inspired it Andrew VanWyngarden said: "It was a praying mantis that was named after our experimental music adviser. We found her in a yard sale. She loved The Clash."

'Time To Pretend' sees duo claim second honour at London ceremony
MGMT have won their second award at the Shockwaves NME Awards tonight (February 25).Having picked up Best New Band earlier in the evening, the Brooklyn duo have now won Best Track at the ceremony in the O2 Academy Brixton for the single 'Time To Pretend'.The pair were given their second honour by guest presenters Dizzee Rascal and Little Boots.Frontman Andrew VanWyngarden said: "Wow, thanks very much. Didn't we win this last year? This set looks familiar, it has a strange feeling, an electric feeling... We love England."
